I am so sorry to hear about Laurie's passing. My sincere thoughts and prayers go to Laurie's family and friends. May he rest peacefully. We had some fabulous, and memorable, times there at Whistler's. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet and work for Laurie helping out anyway there that I could. A fabulous man and great friend. May God bless his soul and his memory...

My sincere condolences on the passing of Laurie. I worked with Laurie for a short time when he was with the Oakville Detachment RCMP office assigned to the Drug Bureau back in 1977ish.. What a guy, what a policeman.
He was good friends with Cst. Peter Bridges of the Halton Regional Police Service who has predeceased Laurie. He may have spoken of Peter on occasion.
On behalf of the Drug officers of the Halton Police Service who worked with Laurie, our heart felt condolences. He has left us far too soon.

I was very sorry to hear of Laurie's passing on. I feel compelled to share a wee piece of history with his family and friends.
I played hockey with Laurie when we were kids at the Centennial Arena in Fairview, NS back in the late sixties. He and I made it onto All Star teams in our bantam and midget years.
Laurie was so solid on his skates. I do not remember anyone ever being able to knock him down...he was an immovable object...bodies would just fall away from him! He also had a cannon when he shot on the net from his defensive, blue line position.
I will always remember Laurie as an unassuming young man with a ready smile and a big heart. He was well loved and respected by his team mates and coaches.
My most sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him...I will remember Laurie fondly for the rest of my days.

Adding our condolences to express the sadness felt when we learned of Laurie's
sudden passing. His obituary so aptly described him - kind, friendly, tough and bold
with always a story to tell! My (Betty) lasting memory of him will be the big hug he
gave me recently while we were all mourning the loss of our dear uncle. May your loving memories forever keep him in your hearts.

Condolences to Laurie's family and friends. I first met him in the 80's when he took ownership of Camille's Fish n Chips in Halifax (I was a delivery driver for Clover)
Since then I have been in contact with him through my sales career over the last 30 years, he was always easy to work with and struck me as an open and honest person.... he will be missed.

To Family
Laurie was known for always having a smile when he would greet someone, and a laugh to go along with it.
He was a great supporter of local talent on karaoke nights. Whistlers was a bustling spot, and Laurie would be right there in the thick of things laughing alongside all his faithful patrons.
May you find comfort in all of the wonderful memories that you share together at this difficult time.
With Deepest Sympathy

I am truly sorry for the loss. Laurie was a big figure in my childhood at the cottage in Pictou Landing, at the cookouts and caddying for him on the golf course. I loved hearing his quick booming laugh. He had such genuine kindness. He will absolutely be missed.

My sincere condolences. I had the privilege & honour to have worked with Laurie during his posting to “O” Division RCMP. I was fortunate to have maintained contact with him for many years following his RCMP tenure. I remember on one occasion, many years ago, the opportunity to visit with Laurie and his family at their summer cottage in the Pictou area. They were the quintessential hosts...lots of food & drink, many stories and laughs and of course a cigar. My thoughts & prayers are with his family. Rest In Peace my friend.

Laurie and I worked together on the RCMP drug section in Hamilton, Ontario in the early 1970's. If it is possible to be tough, with no fear and kind at the same time, this is what defined Laurie. I will never forget that big smile when he was giving a bad guy hell, usually with a cigar in his mouth. I was always happy to be on his side of the fence. Rest in peace big guy, you had many friends and fans.

So very sorry and shocked to hear about Laurie's passing ! Laurie was being so helpful with my business plans and I was very excited to rent a business space from him in the spring. Has been more than accommodating and really wanted to see me succeed. He was willing to go above and beyond to help me get my business off the ground. He was a good man who helped whenever anyone was in need. I would like to send my condolences to all of his family and friends. He spoke of his family so lovingly. Especially his sister who he called his "best friend" that he lived with. I hope you all can find some peace in the wonderful memories that you hold.
