I first met Clyde at the IOL Dartmouth Terminal in 1976. He was assigned to be my “co-driver” for 2 weeks after I, a young management trainee, had been given some training in tractor-trailer operations. After nervously missing a couple of shifts, Clyde gave a reassuring laugh and exclaimed, “If you can’t find ‘em, grind ‘em.” I relaxed after that and we successfully made deliveries to Truro, Kentville, Halifax, and other Imperial Oil locations. They were 2 weeks of my early Esso career that I will always cherish. I always thought he bore a striking resemblance to the actor, Jack Nicholson, and I think he shared the same ‘devil may care’ attitude - in an admirable way. My wife and I send our sincerest condolences.

When Kevin told me, I couldn't help but remember how funny he was and how he always made a point of talking to me when there was a family gathering. He was truly a fun, nice man.
