THOMAS, Frank Louis “War Chief” – 71, Densmore Mills, passed away suddenly April 14, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Millbrook, he was a son of the late Matthew and Susan (Howe) Thomas.
Frank was the respected NS District War Chief of The Warrior Society for 25 years. He was an avid fisherman. He was a strong advocate of traditional and inherent Native rights, and was well known across the country. He was the creator of the documentary “Who Will Sing for Us” about traditional teachings. He had a wonderful sense of humour.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; children, Merwin, Serina (Faron Wagner); grandchildren, Destiny Dawn, Faith, Emma, Liam; great grandson, Silas; brother, Rufus (Michelle) Copage; several brothers and sisters in law; two godsons, Andrew and Adrian; many nieces and nephews; beloved cousins, Linda, Rick, Sandra, Kim, and Kelly, as well as many others; many great friends.
He was predeceased by brother, Gary; several step siblings.
A visitation will be held in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from 2 – 9pm Wednesday, April 19th during which a Traditional Ceremony will be conducted. Cremation will follow.
