I moved to North Salem 7 years ago from the city. I traded longtime friends and neighbors for the tranquil embrace of rural living. Upon arriving I never missed any of them that much because I found a new friend and neighbor in Bill. He introduced himself to me on the first day I came to look at the property with my contractor and my realtor and his warm welcome was one of the reasons I chose this location to construct and settle down upon. Over these years he had become more than a neighbor, he had become a very good friend, a mentor, a father figure and at times, when he was in a playful mood, he could "torment" me like a brother. Bill always offered an extra pair of hands when I needed them or a multitude of advice and opinions when I didn't need them, but offered them anyways. Bill was always full of spirit and exuded such a "can do" attitude. Nothing was impossible to Bill, he would face a challenge head on and walk away satisfied with his effort. He enjoyed helping out friends and neighbors in whatever task they were undertaking and would always be the first one you could count on for support. I truly enjoyed the time I got to spend with Bill, his life and his family over the years and I miss him already but will never forget him. Good bye my friend rest in peace you earned it.
