SHIELDS, Edith Florence “Flo” – age 90, of Enfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 9, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Dildo, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Reid) Pretty. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She spent all her married life in Enfield. Flo was very involved and a faithful member of the ACW. She was devoted to her family. She was kind and selfless – always putting everyone else’s needs before her own. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking. She excelled at crafts, especially sewing and knitting. She had her own little mitt factory. She loved having her family and friends at her home. She is survived by her children, John (Barb), Bruce (Gloria), and Holly (Greg) Ferguson; grandchildren Wesley, Mark, Jason, Janice and Karen; great grandchildren, Ben, Will, Austin, Olivia, Owen, and Ryan. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack, 10 siblings, grand daughter, Heather Ferguson. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday, March 13 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, March 14, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Interment will be at a later date in Belnan Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Flo may be made to Christ Church , 14 Church St., Lantz, NS B2S1P3.
