WENTZELL, Ruth Beatrice 84, of Fort Ellis, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro. Ruth was born December 31, 1931 in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia to the late John Thomas and Irene (Fisher) Matthews. She was a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend but to most who knew her she was Nan-E. She was proud, determined, generous and so full of love. She valued family and bestowed that value on everyone she met. Her home was always open to generations of family and friends. A home where, no matter where you were from, she made you feel like it was your own. It could be a stray cat or a stray neighbour or friend, you were always welcome. She made everyone feel like family and she lived to give things away – food, plants, advice, love, genuine friendship, support or a stiff drink. Tomorrow was something that she was always planning for. Her children and family were her pride and joy. She loved and she was loved. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of fifty-two years Glen, her first husband Russell Crouse and her son Harold Wentzell. Ruth is survived by her children Joan (George) Babineau, Mickael (Debbie) Crouse, Myra (Darrell) Creelman, Vernon (Esther) Crouse, Leota (Laurie) and daughters-in-law, Darlene and Cathy. Nan-E is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian (Amanda), Jeff, Randy (Laura), Jennifer (Brett), Andrea (Kevin), Amber, Kathleen, Roddy (Carrie), Robbie, Paxton (Evan), Emily (Tyler), Jacob, Justina and Jordan. Nan-E was also a proud great grandmother to Lily, Leah, Joaquin, Austin, Gehrig, Emmerson, Braden and Paislee. Ruth is survived by her sisters, Carolyn, Cheryl and Mary, and brothers, Arthur, Clinton, Fred and Leslie. She was predeceased by her sisters, Avis and Lois and brothers, John, Harold and Walter. A special thank you to VON and all the nurses and doctors who treated Nan-E with dignity and support during her illness. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22nd from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie.
