Obituary of Audrey Leslie

Please share a memory of Audrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

LESLIE, Audrey – age 89, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Londonderry, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey Layton and Erma Nadine (McLean) Hicks.

Audrey Leslie cannot be summed up in only a few words.  A fun-loving prankster who seized any opportunity to be mischievous. Her shenanigans were not limited to just friends and loved ones.  She could get a laugh out of a total stranger in just about any setting.  Being a world traveller, having visited several countries in various continents, her favourite travels would be those she shared with her children.  To watch Audrey’s eyes light up when her grandchildren and great grandchildren entered into her space was nothing short of magical.  No matter her age, she wouldn’t be stopped from chasing them around trees or into a pile of leaves, despite our best efforts to slow her down.  The kind of person that Audrey was is evident by those who had the privilege to know her, even if only for a short time.  Most all have a story that, when sharing, brings a smile to their face.  Although sad, these moments shared by others, fill our hearts and we feel such pride in knowing the positive impact she had on so many.

Audrey is survived by her children, Dawn Elaine Leslie (Bill Rodgers), Adena Leslie-Cole (Joe), Barry (Vivian Dunbar), Brad (Jane) and Lori Dale Leslie; grandchildren, Angela, Jody, Lisa, Erin, Corey, Kaleigh, Chantal, Evan, Lauren, Karyn; 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Leslie of Murphy Cove and sisters, Yvonne and Rutheen.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 7 – 9 pm on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, from where a Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, Rev.
