Obituary of Richard Pierre Saulnier

SAULNIER, Richard Pierre – age 77, of Upper Rawdon, passed away peacefully at home, on October 19^th, 2023. Born in Mavillette, NS, he was a son of the late Raymond and Therese (Deveau) Saulnier and was predeceased by granddaughter Ellie. 

He was a selfless man who always put others first.  He was devoted to his wife, Beverly, and his family meant more to him than anything.  He never had a cross word for anyone and was known for his patience, kindness and willingness to help others.  His interests were varied and he was a true entrepreneur at heart.  From aquaculture, lobster fishing, rabbit farming, recycling, gold mining, dowsing for water and carpentry; Richard was a jack of all trades. 

Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years Beverly (nee Giffin); his children, Susan (Tamara), Heather (Tony), Andrew (Katelyn) and Jason (Jillian).  He was a beloved Poppy to Jacob (Kim), Isaac (Victoria), Zachary (Caitlin), Coral, Ocean (Colton), Katie, Emma, Blake and Luke.  Richard was lucky enough to see the birth of three great grandchildren, Max, Olivia and Aurora.  

Richard was the oldest of eight children – surviving are his brothers and sisters; Alain (Elaine), Audrey, Gaston (Sally), Madeline (Bernard), Charlie, Ruth (Carmen) and Raymond (Darlene) and many nieces and nephews. 

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes.

Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday October 25, 2023, at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday October 26^th, 2023, at the Bedford Baptist Church, 158 Rocky Lake Drive, Bedford.  Reception to follow the service.
