Obituary of Beverly Joan Baker

BAKER, Beverly Joan, age 79 of Truro, formerly of Halifax, passed away May 7, 2020 in Vimy Court. 

 Beverly was a graduate of the Children’s Hospital, Halifax.  She acquired a diploma in psychiatric nursing at the Nova Scotia Hospital, Dartmouth.  She was an avid learner, attending courses whenever the opportunity arose.  Beverly started her nursing career working at the IWK, Halifax.  She was a nurse manager of pediatrics at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville; a nurse at a children’s camp in Ottawa, Ontario; was employed at the old Halifax Infirmary and she completed her career at the QEII Halifax, working in the ENT Clinic.  She was appreciated for her ability to listen to others, her sincere interest and caring attitude towards patients in her care.

 

Beverly was predeceased by her twin brother Barry, her mother Vera (Tays) Baker and her father Frank Baker. 

She is survived by her sister Mary (Gordon) Patton, nieces Francis (David) Heeter, Diane (Lyle) Foster, grandniece Katlyn (Sam) Foster-Nassie of Chico, California; sister in-law Gwen Baker, nephews Brent (Jacqueline) Baker, grandnephews, Connor, Cole and Cameron Baker;  nephew Mark Baker, grandnephew Seth and grandniece Marley Baker; great grand nephew, Sawyer Nassie; special friend Janet Slack; many cousins and extended family.

Cremation has taken place, a private graveside service will be held 3pm Saturday July 4, 2020 in Gays River Cemetery; friends may view the  service by clicking on the "Live Stream of Graveside Service" or  at https://www.distantlink.com/ettingersremote.html

Donations may be made to the Gays River Cemetery Society, 1775 Highway 2, Milford, NS, B0N1Y0; the IWK Health Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.
