Obituary of Dorothy Marie McKenzie

McKENZIE, Dorothy Marie - age 81, of Indian Brook, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on November 11, 2019. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Pauline (Benoit) Sack.

In her younger years, Dorothy went to Maine to pick blueberries, potatoes, etc. Later she went to Boston and worked as a cook at Boston College. She returned to Indian Brook and committed her life to raising a happy family. Her talents included making native coats. Dorothy was a deeply spiritual woman and lived a traditional way of life.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jerry F. Sack, Paulina Sack, Gary Sack, Tammy McKenzie, Patricia McKenzie and Montana Sack; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Louis Sack, Mary Agnes Julian, Jerry M. Sack and Laura Sack; children, Brian Sack, Bobby Sack, Heidi Aubert, Brenda Sack, Colin McKenzie; grandchildren, Richard Sack and Billy Boy Sack.

Visitation will begin 6pm Wednesday, November 13th at 90 Dowie Road, Indian Brook until time of service at 11am Saturday, November 16th at 90 Dowie Road. Burial to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
