Obituary of Ruby Gertrude Garrison
GARRISON (Andrews)(Boutilier) Ruby G. age 97, of Vimy Court, Truro, formerly of Goffs. It is it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She died on August 30, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. She was born on March 13, 1922 in Spry Bay to the late George and Hilda Andrews.
Mom was a loving mother to her 13 children. She enjoyed her flowers and her vegetable garden and making delicious donuts, fruit cakes and many special meals for family and friends. She was a lover of country music. Mom enjoyed her visits among family and friends, especially her drives to the Eastern Shore. Mom was a great knitter and family enjoyed many warm and cozy slippers and knitted dishcloths. Most of all she embraced being a dear mom to her 13 children. Mom enjoyed her yard sales with Charlene over the years. Always putting her children and others first. She will be forever missed by all her loved ones and friends.
She is survived by children, Fred(Marie), Christine Dunham, Kenny (Helen), Roy, Annie Owen, Ronald (Sarah), Alonzo (Cindy), Linda Mitchell, Carl (Sharon), Cathie (Ryan) McGirr and Ruby; brother Eugene (Lydia); daughter-in-law Coral Wickstrom and 38 grandchildren, 127 greatgrandchildren; many great-great grandchildren as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by son Douglas and infant son Richard; husbands Alonzo Boutilier and Roblin Garrison; siblings Edward, George, Jenny Cross, Elva Quillian, Verna Boutilier, Gladys Quillian, Doris Peters, Viola Seaman and Hazel; daughters in-law Joan and Carol; sons in- law, Keith Dunham, Jim Lightle and Basil Owen; grandchildren Darlene, Keith Jr., Peggy and Jamie; great-granddaughter April; also five stepchildren.
A special thanks to the staff at Vimy Court and the CEHHC Palliative Care Unit for all the care for Mom.
Cremation has taken place, a funeral service will be held 3 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Kim Curlett officiating.
A reception will follow the service in the funeral home hospitality area. The burial will be in the Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan.
