Obituary of Mary Catherine Willis

WILLIS, Mary Catherine “Marr”-age 73 of Indian Brook passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2019.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Annie Brooks and Raymond Cope.

Catherine worked as a housekeeper in Boston, MA, employed with Howard Johnson’s and Indian Brook Band for 25 years. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s for many years. Catherine loved to travel, play bingo and shop at her favorite stores on the weekends and enjoyed playing the VLT’s.

She will be sadly missed by daughter, Michelle, Indian Brook; sons, Michael (Tatum)Willis, NB; Gilbert Brooks, Indian Brook; stepsons, Eric (Lisa) Simon, NB, James (Maureen) Simon, NB; Mark (Gina) Simon, NB; Ernest (Natalie) Simon, NB; stepdaughter, Noel Simon, NB; 23 grandchildren and  8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane Brooks, Indian Brook; brother, James M. Sack, Indian Brook, great uncle, Frederick Battiste; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her common-law husband of 20 years, Gary Fitzgerald; son, Richard Willis; brothers, Leo Sack, Carl Sack, Peter Sack and Roger Cope; sisters, Beverly Sack, Gloria Jean Sack and Shirley Cope; foster sister, Mary C. Julian; brother in law, John J. Julian.

Visitation will begin 7pm Friday, March 15^th at 15 Brown Flats Road, Indian Brook until time of service, 10:30am Monday, March 18^th in St. Kateri’s Roman Catholic Church, Father Ron Cairns officiating. Burial will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

 Meal and Salite will be held at the Community Centre.
