Obituary of Irma Joyce MacPhee

MACPHEE, Irma Joyce – age 91, of Upper Nine Mile River, passed away March 8, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Melrose, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Braden and Lydia (Laffin) White of North Noel Road.

For years, she helped her husband run the family farm, then worked at Cameron’s General Store, and Scotia Flour and Feed in Elmsdale. Later, she had her own small business at home, baking and groceries.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Irene), Carrolls Corner; grandchildren, Denise, Darla, Denita; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Edgar (Cathy), B.C.; Gilmore, North Noel Road; Lewis (Bonnie), North Noel Road; Myles (Joy), Belnan; sisters, Sandra (John) Rines, Riverside; Lynn (Paul), Newport.

She was predeceased by her husband, Austin; her son, Harry Austin; sisters, Vivian, Elaine, and Edna.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. No visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm Saturday, March 16 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Reverend Martin Reid officiating.

Donations in Irma’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
