Obituary of Joseph Raymond Marie Yvan "Ivan" Haince

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

HAINCE, Joseph Raymond Marie Yvan “Ivan” – of Elmsdale.  Born in Quebec City in 1934, son of Henri and Margareita (Duplaine) Haince.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on January 25, 2019 in the QE II Infirmary ICU Unit with family present.

Yvan served with the Armed Forces RCAF for 25 years. After his release he worked for J.L. Nichols for 20 years, then with security for 17 years. A worker, he enjoyed people, was an avid sports fan – Boston Bruins’ top one- an expert crib player and a dedicated family man. He always shared humour and happiness wherever he went. He was the Social Butterfly. He will be sorely missed by all.

Yvan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Irma, Elmsdale; son, Yvan I. E. (Patricia), Chester; daughter, Vonda (Dean), Calgary; daughter in-law, Debbie, Enfield; grandchildren, Tawnia, Robin, Damien, Gabriel, Amanda, Shannon, Janelle, and Vanessa; great grandchildren, Jorden, Taylor, Raidon, Drew, Kirk, Cash, Vincent, and Owen. He is also survived by sister, Madeline, Quebec City; brother, Paul Rene, Montreal, and his furry family, Socks and Biscuit.

He was predeceased by son, André Michael James; brother, Edgar, as well as his parents.

We give a thank you to paramedics, the doctors and nurses of the ICU Unit at the QEII, and special thanks to “adoptive" daughter, Margie.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Tuesday, January 29th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Burial will be held at a later date in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan.

In lieu of flowers, family would request donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA.

Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Yvan may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
