Obituary of Sydney Robert McConnell

McCONNELL, Sydney Robert – age 71 of Stewiacke, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro with family by his side.

Born in Davidson, Saskatchewan, he was a son of the late Robert and Laurie (Barclay) McConnell.

He was a professional miner for over 40 years, which brought him to many destinations around the world.

He was very interested in sports, especially hockey and tennis and was a staunch supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

He will be sadly missed by his partner, Bonnie Smith (Bon); children, Kirk (Tanya) McConnell, Lauri (Scott) Humeniuk, Thomas (Kaitlyn) McConnell and Clem McConnell; step-son Michael, grandchildren, Emily, Sullivan, Mack and Koby; step grandchildren Cali, Jennifer, Nigel and Nicole several great grandchildren; brothers, Terry (Sylvia) McConnell, Bob (Karla) McConnell and sisters, Joan McConnell and Ginny McConnell; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Tom; sister, Sandra Krawciw; sister in law, Delores; niece, Cindy; nephews, Kevin and Curtis; stepfather, Robert Craib “Grandpa Craib”.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.

Sydney’s life will be celebrated back home in Davidson, Saskatchewan in the summer of 2019.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Cedarstone, but especially Garden Road for your kindness, compassion and friendship shown to Sydney.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimers Society.
