Obituary of Ralph Lloyd Bilby

BILBY, Ralph Lloyd - age 90, of Bible Hill, formerly of Maitland passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on November 5, 2018.  Born in Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Frank and Beatrice Bilby.

Ralph had a very strong work ethic in whatever he was doing. He did what he needed to do to take care of his family. He liked to tell jokes with a twinkle in his eye. He was devoted to his family and the farm. He was an avid fisherman, woodsman and loved working in the lumber mill. He and Edna enjoyed many games of 45’s. Ralph took over making the Christmas fruit cakes which were enjoyed by many, as were his jams, jellies and pickles.

Ralph is survived by his children, Diane, Wade (Rizalina), Jeffrey; grandchildren, Mike, Robbie (Kathleen), Jacob and Reyna Mae; great grandchildren, Mya and Ava; cousins, Wayne Burns (Dianne), Dorothy Burns and a large extended family.

Ralph was predeceased by his loving wife, of 61 years, Edna Mae Bilby; his parents; brother, Thompson; sister, Jane (Wendell); cousin, Aubrey Burns.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral service 2pm Friday, November 9, 2018 in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Maitland, Rev. Glenn Eason officiating.

Donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery Fund.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Vimy Court for their compassionate and kind care. Also, thanks to Dr. Locke. We are also grateful to everyone who regularly visited with our Dad and brought him treats and conversation.
