Obituary of Ronald "Bud" Weatherhead

WEATHERHEAD, Ronald “Bud” Moray – Upper Rawdon. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Moray Weatherhead, 84, of Upper Rawdon, Hants Co. in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on March 23, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Upper Rawdon, Bud was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ruth (Gilbert) Weatherhead. A businessman all his life, he worked for paving companies across Nova Scotia. He started his own fresh line wild blueberries in the basement at 62 Weatherhead Road, Upper Rawdon. People lined up to wait for the blueberries to be cleaned. He progressed to a blueberry building out behind his house.  Bud grew Christmas trees, wild blueberries, rhubarb and high bush blueberries. He built and maintained his own equipment.

Bud employed just about everyone in Hants County and many other counties at one time or another. He gave everyone a chance. Some employees remained with him for a long time. Others stayed but a short while, though they always left having learned something. They were all better for having spent time with Bud.

Bud is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Jack); his children, Barb (Brian) Hagell, Nancy P. Weatherhead, Dale, Debbie (Laura), Nathan (Tammy) Crawford, Naomi (Pat) Gauthier; his grandchildren, Brianna, Jason, Saxon, Andrew, Evan, Cameron, Reid; his siblings, Bessie, Verna (Harry) Chernoff, Wilma, Richard (Elsbeth); sister in law, Annie; the mother of his children, Doreen; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilbert and Keith; brother in law, Arthur Duncan.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 27 from noon- 2pm when a Celebration of Life service will begin, both in Elmsdale Baptist Church, 510 Highway 2, Enfield, Pastor Annie de Lamirande officiating.  A reception will follow the service.
