Please share a memory of Leo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

HORNE, Leo C. -age 87 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018 in the Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield. Born in Enfield, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Catherine (Wilmot) Horne.

Leo was a proud employee of the Canadian National Railway for 44 years. When he retired from the railway, he continued to work as a bus driver for CCSB for 10 years, and as a driver for CCOA for 5 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting, and especially enjoyed his November trips to the camp on Grand Lake with Wayne and Vaughn. He loved camping, spending 18 years at Sully’s Campground where his fellow campers became his summer family and enjoyed his hospitality at happy hour. He was a devoted Leafs fan and took his love of the sport into our community rink cheering our local teams.

Leo was a very compassionate man who deeply loved children, animals, and his fellow man. He believed in and brought out the best in those around him. He was fun-loving and a great storyteller who shared many stories of days gone by.

He was an active community member and was proud to call Enfield his home. His faith was strong  and he served on the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Parish Council in various roles. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Enfield Legion, Enfield Lions Club, and served on the board of Corridor Community Options Society.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Mardy; children, Wayne (Donna), Deb Curran, Gail Christie, Linda (Sean) Coolen; nine grandchildren, eight  great grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Forbes, Nancy Ryan and Sharon Rochon (Bill); numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by twin sisters, Reta and Greta; sisters, Shirley, Alma and Barbara; brothers, Ray, Ronald, Clyde and Harold; son in law, John Curran.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Thursday, February 15 in St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield from where a Celebration of Leo’s Life will be held 2pm Friday, February 16, Father Michael Walsh officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Corridor Community Options for Adults, 21 Convent Rd, Enfield, NS B2T 1C9.

A very special thank you to the staff of The Magnolia for their love and care. They made his stay a home and we always felt like family during visits. To his fellow cottage friends, your friendship made his days a little brighter.
