Obituary of Eugene Logan LOGAN, Eugene David – 65, Lantz, passed away peacefully in the QEII- VG Site, Halifax, surrounded by the love and support of his family after a long battle with diabetes on January 2, 2018. Born in Lantz Siding, he was a son of Olive (Isenor) Logan, The Magnolia Nursing Home, Enfield, and the late Aubrey Logan. He worked at Laurie Isenor and Sons for years, Fairley and Stevens in Dartmouth, later at L. E. Shaw, and had his own Ultramar Service Centre in Dutch Settlement (1984 – 1992), before retiring to his own garage later in life. On a regular day, Eugene would be found working in his garage and fixing anyone’s car that needed work done. His passion for mechanics was what he was best known for and many in his community and beyond, remember Eugene as one of the best mechanics to go to when in mobile crisis. Eugene enjoyed old cars and trucks, stock car racing, fishing, tinkering in his garage, maintaining his homes maintenance, and helping the many family and friends he knew. His life was always full of adventure, and he always ensured that many knew he was around for a good laugh when in his company. Life for Eugene was filled with a very busy schedule, but when assistance was needed or something required his help, he was always dropping his hammer or wrench, to help out that very individual. He always had a joke for new comers and regular visitors. In his free time, you would find Eugene learning a new song on his guitars or singing along to Country song lyrics. He adored his grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Doreen (Gilby); son, Mark (Megan), Middle Sackville; daughters, Stephanie (Jack), Moncton, NB; Tara (Matt), Lantz; grandsons, Austin and Maxwell; brothers, Jerry (David), Toronto, ON; Collin (Shelley), Cole Harbour; sisters, Josie (David) Mason, Enfield; Christine (Jim) Hughes, Lantz; Della (Jeffrey) Matthews, Enfield. He was predeceased by his father, Aubrey. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday, January 9 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A time of celebration and reflection will begin at 7pm. Burial in Christ Church Cemetery, Lantz at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Eugene may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to express their deep thanks to the staff at the Dialysis Unit at the VG and to the nurses on 6B for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Eugene and to us. Thank you as well to our many friends who assisted Eugene in getting to his dialysis appointments, especially Wilfred Boudreau. Your kindness is very much appreciated.
