Obituary of Scott Grant Isenor

ISENOR, Scott of Carrolls Corner. It is with great sadness yet a sense of relief that we announce the passing of Scott at the young age of 61. Scott was afflicted with early onset Alzheimer’s almost 9 years ago. It was during the past year and a half that Scott was no longer able to be at home due to his disease and moved to Elk Court in Brookfield where he died with his family by his side. Scott was born and raised in Dutch Settlement to the late Percy and Pansy Isenor. He met Kate (love at first sight) at MRHS and they have been together ever since. Scott joined the workforce at an early age and worked extremely hard until he was forced to retire due to back problems. He was a volunteer with the DS Fire Dept for a number of years, as well as a member of the Milford Lions Club. Scott was very athletic, playing and coaching softball for many years, but his number one passion was hockey. Scott was involved in hockey most of his life, either as a player, coach, trainer, or hockey parent. Whenever we went to the grocery store there were always one or two people chatting to “Scottie” about the old days in hockey. The Montreal Canadiens was the team he cheered for and he recently took the family to a game at the Bell Centre. Even though it was a disappointing show from the Canadiens, some lasting memories were made. Scott and Kate enjoyed many trips down south over the years, until he was unable to travel. The last trip to Cuba was in 2014 with good friends Robin and Benny. Anyone who knew Scott would agree that he loved to have fun and make people laugh with all his stories and antics. He loved hanging out with the boys from work and shooting the breeze. It wouldn’t be complete unless there was an argument or two. He also loved his bright yellow mustang convertible that provided many road trips before and during his illness. Scott leaves his wife of 38 years Kathleen (Benvie), his son Douglas (Melody) and daughter Stacey (Ryan) Smith. He was very proud of his children and recently became a proud grandfather to Lucas, Lilah, and Haylee. Melody’s daughter Genevieve also has a place in his heart. His little dog Bud proved to be a great companion to Scott over the last number of years. Scott is survived by brothers, Reg (Myrna), Danny (Cindy); sister Marilyn (Everett) and brother in law Hank, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Percy and Pansy and sister Linda, as well as father in law Douglas Benvie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Thursday, September 21, 2017 with a Celebration of Life, 2pm Friday, September 22, 2017 both in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie. Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. A livestream of the service will begin at 1:55 pm. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. The family would like to thank friends and family who continued to visit and ask about Scott over the last number of years. It meant a lot to all of us, as well as Scott himself. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Montgomery and assistant Lynn for the care and compassion provided over the years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Altinkirk and the entire staff at Elk Court for their care and kindness while Scott was there.
