I never had the opportunity to meet Jarvis, I wish I had. I wish I had because I have had the great fortune to befriend his wonderful daughter Rebecca. Rebecca is a fantastic person, kind and generous, loving, hilarious and by far and away one of the most intelligent people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I wish I could have met Jarvis so I could say thank you. Thank you for raising such a wonderful daughter. I am terribly sorry for Charlene, Rachel, Rebecca his sister Joy and all the lucky people who had a chance to know him and call him a friend. His legacy lives on in the jokes and stories his friends and family share and with his wonderful loving family and the joy they bring to lucky people like me every day. Thank you Jarvis and rest well.

Charlene, Rachel and Rebecca -I was shocked to hear from Carlo of Jarvis' untimely demise.
I always thought that we were contemporaries and only now do I realize that I am older!! I don't remember how far back Jarvis and I go. If my memory is correct, I believe that we met before we ended up at Marsh. Jarvis was, as so many before me have noted, rather irreverent. Always on top with a quip or very witty remark.
His warm, bubbly, effervescent personality was sometimes mistaken as superficial but masked a very thorough deep understanding of many things. His memory for detail, in his chosen profession, was profound - he could recall the most involved placement or discussion even many years after the event. Small wonder that he was so good on the stage.
Even though our meetings were few and far between, Charlene ,Rachel, & Rebecca and mainly at your house, I was always accorded a very warm and gracious welcome by all including the pet of the moment.
I know that you all will feel lost for a long time without the spark that was Jarvis - I as well just knowing that I won't be on his Joke List on the net.
I will raise a glass to his memory again tonight as I have for the last couple of nights. The world is a poorer place for his passing and we are all richer for having been aquainted with Jarvis and his family.

Jarvis was a fine man and saved a lot of people and organizations a great deal of money. He saved our lodge in St. Peters Nova Scotia a great deal by having us combine with other lodges thru Nova Scotia through our Grand Lodge. RIP my friend you will be missed.

Charlene, Rachel and Rebecca,
It is difficult to know how to express one's self at a time like this. I was fortunate to work closely with Jarvis during my time at the Diocesan Synod office. His deep knowledge of the insurance industry was of great help to the Anglican parishes and their councils in this diocese. Thanks to his knowledge and abilities we were able to make sense of a very complicated aspect of property management.
And then there was his sense of humour. To say it was razor sharp would not do him justice; and I speak as one who found himself on the receiving end of his endless comebacks. How did he do it? Just when I thought I had outdone him he would turn it around and send it right back!
Jarvis was a kind, thoughtful, and dear man who I will miss greatly. I can't imagine how you all feel at this time but do know you are being upheld in prayer. We all mourn with you, and also join with you as we give thanks for his life among us.

Our deepest condolences to you on the passing of Jarvis. Florence and I thought a great deal of Jarvis, a kind, loving and warm individual who loved life and his family. We considered Jarvis as one of our dearest friends and always knew we had a true friend for life. A one of a kind sense of humor and robust laugh and always one seeking a good joke. We will miss him a great deal but be assured that Jarvis will forever remain in our fondest memories.

I was saddened to learn of your great loss of Jarvis. He will be missed by his family and of many insurance family. I met Jarvis about 14 years ago when I became the treasurer of St. James (Armdale) and had to speak with him regarding an insurance matter. I had 40 years in the industry and we had many friends in common and had wonderful chats over the years. All of us will miss his wisdom and of course his wonderful sense of humor. I am sure you will have many great memories to keep you and the family together in the future. He will certainly be missed by all.

I think I speak for the parishes in the Diocese of Fredericton as well as myself, when I say how much Jarvis will be missed. Many people have expressed their sorrow upon hearing the news, and everyone shared fond memories of working with Jarvis - he was so gentle, helpful, kind and knowledgeable. He had a great sense of humor and went above and beyond to help people understand the minute details of their insurance coverage - which is probably where his sense of humor was tested the most! I will surely miss our conversations and the multitude of emails that he shared with me - I say farewell to my friend and offer prayers and condolences for Charlene and his family. I hope that a lifetime of memories will be a comfort to you all.

I didn't know Jarvis very well, but there's no doubt in my mind he was what you'd call a character. I won't forget standing by the sink and listening to him explain how he'd wash each utensil, individually, after each use. I thought, "Here is a man built for a numbers game." I can only imagine the incredible depths of your grief, but I have rarely met a family so devoted to each other, full of wonderful, strong and kind women who can carry each other through this time. My heart goes out to you all.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Jarvis' sudden death. Our relationship was primarily over the telephone. We were both people continuing to work part-time long after normal retirement age. I always found him unfailingly helpful, whether dealing with enquiries about coverage, adding or removing buildings from a complex parish insurance portfolio (eight country churches plus other buildings) or submitting a significant claim after a church steeple was struck by lightening. Sadly other commitments make it quite impossible for me to be at the cathedral on Monday, but I shall very much be thinking of you all at that time.
