Obituary of Gary Ernest Lively

LIVELY, Gary – Chaswood/ Truro. The passing of Gary E Lively, age 71, occurred on July 18,2017 at his home in Greenfield, after a long battle with cancer. Born May 2, 1946 in Musquodoboit, Halifax County, he was a son of the late Hazel (Bell) and Havey Lively. In his younger years, Gary worked driving heavy machinery for Department of Highways, drove skidder in the woods, and even worked at Stanfield’s for a bit. Later on, he was happy spending time on his hobby farm, going for drives and spending time with his granddaughter, Jenna Matthews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Hollingsworth; best friend, Bobby Paul. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Dave Rogers) Lively, Turtle Creek NB; brothers, Rod (Linda) Lively, Meaghers Grant; Mark (Terri) Lively, Harmony; grandchildren, Jenna, Montanna, Theresa, Blake, Kai, and Karma, as well as several nieces and nephews; special friends, Rob Atkinson and Danny Whidden. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held 2pm Sunday, July 23 in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit, Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church basement following the service. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the SPCA, Truro.
