Obituary of John H McMullen

McMULLEN, John H. age 80 of Milford, passed away on November 15, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hardwood Lands, he was a son of the late Raymond and Helen (Gourley) McMullen. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Aitken); children, Pamela (Victor) Benoit, Craig (Dawn), and Lana; grandchildren, Alexander (Kelby), Jeremy, William and Colby; great grandson, Benjamin; siblings, Frances Fulton, Doug (Carlie), Elsie McNea, Irene (Carl) McNea, Chester (Donna), Ernie (Janice). He is also survived by his sisters in-law, Dorothy and Barbara Aitken, daughter in-law, Jodi McMullen; uncle Earl McMullen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers Laurie and Elroy; sisters, Marion Mader and Audrey Isenor. John dearly enjoyed the outdoors and "the woods." He worked for Imperial Oil for 28 years. His greatest pleasures were his family and his commitment to community service for the Milford & District Lions Club, Milford Recreation Assocation, Milford Fire Department and the Milford Lantz United Church. He was named awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow from Lions Clubs International in 1995 and the Model Volunteer of the Year for East Hants in 2014. Visitation will be held 3:30-5pm and 7-9pm, Friday November 18 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, November 19 in Milford-Lantz United Church, Lori Crocker, DM officiating. Interment will follow in the Milford Columbarium.
