To the family of Jack:
Russell Meyers notified me of your dad's passing. Your dad was my first cousin. My mom and your Grandma were sisters. I often heard stories of your dad and I so remember him in his uniform.
Sending my thoughts and prayers to your family and I can only imagine the nice reunion your dad had with his mom and dad and the rest of his family.
Sincerely,
Jane

On behalf of my late mother Ruth's (Rudy), family, my deepest condolences to Uncle Jack's family. My sister Nancy, my young daughter Sarah and I had the pleasure of visiting Uncle Jack and Peggy 7 years ago.
My mother called him her big brother although he was younger than her. I am sure they are having a great time in heaven. He was a wonderful man.
Sincerely,
Brenda and Sarah Stade

My sincere condolences upon hearing of the passing of John Rogers. I remember him fondly when I was a child, from the old Louisburg Lane neighbourhood. He was a kind man to the neighbourhood kids and a loving father to his family. RIP Jack.

I was very saddened to read of John's passing he was truly one of a kind. I sailed with CPO Rogers on HMCS Ojibwa in 1967. John was leaving submariners for the surface ships and he was made duty senior rate the day before he left, I was duty electrician walking by the CPO's mess and I heard laughing from inside the mess knowing he was all alone I stuck my head into the mess to see if he was ok and as I did there was John paying his mess bill with pennies by attaching them to a cupboard with masking tape. I believe he owed around $10.00 and he was having a ball. Truly a Great Mess Mate

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of John. Many retired Marine Electricians and Electrical Technicians will be saddened by the news.
Chief John Rogers was the Chief ET when I joined my first ship, ALGONQUIN, in Aug 77 as newly trained Ordinary Seaman Marine Electrician. This was our only posting together, but I still have fond memories of those times. He was always a gentleman, a leader and a mentor to his staff. We all looked up to him and were strengthened by his calm demeanor during long and hard training exercises and Fishery patrols.
I also had the pleasure of serving with his son, Frank, in the Beaver Bank-Kinsac Volunteer Fire Dept. of which I am still a member.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I have known John for over forty years, and am proud to have worked for him, when he was Chief ET on Algonquin, and also to have been a friend of his.
He will be missed
Crossing The Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
