Brennan, Annette Cerise – age 61, of Carrolls Corner, passed away peacefully with family by her side, September 9, 2016 in the QEII, VG Site, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Verna (O’Brien) Cassista, Halifax and the late Edward Charles Cassista. She worked most of her professional life at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Annette had a passion for all animals and their welfare. She was an avid horsewoman with a keen interest in Newfoundland ponies. She was a member of the local harness club and was devoted to her ponies. She was a certified dog breeder and a life member of The Canadian Kennel Club, as well as a member of the Weimaraner Association. She was a former director of Atlantic Weimaraner Rescue. Annette studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and expressed her need to create in many ways throughout her life. She made her own jewellery, painted, was a talented photographer and an avid movie buff. She loved flowers and vegetable gardening and made her own wine. Her creativity and artistic expression will be dearly missed. Annette was passionate about Jeeps, especially her current orange one. Besides her mother, Annette is survived by her siblings, Sandi Cassista, Calgary; Cheryl Cassista, South Rawdon; Patti (Gaylin) Bayard, East Gore; Shawn Cassista, Halifax; niece, Amanda; nephews, Blake and Jeffrey; and her many animals. She was predeceased by her father; her spouse, Don Thomson; brother, Andrew McDonald. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A private graveside service will be held in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan. All who knew Annette are invited to a celebration of her life 3pm Friday, September 16, at 2102 South Rawdon Road. Donations in Annette’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
