KING, Edward - passed away peacefully at his home at Serenity Lodge in Enfield, N.S.
Adopted son of the late Margaret King of Frenchman’s Road. Ed was pleased to celebrate his 80th Birthday with his friends at the Lodge and the Groundhog on Feb. 2nd, 2016.
Ed had a great appreciation for nature and loved being outside. Feeding the birds and squirrels up to the end brought him immense pleasure. Ed enjoyed being busy at manual labour. He took pride in being part of developing Laurie Park, the Provincial Park in Grand Lake. Ed especially remembered his part of the work in building the Miller lake section of the 102 hwy. Ed enjoyed his years of friendship and employment with Laurie and Ruth Ledwidge. Ed loved to travel the roads in his Fords, especially those Rangers! Ed enjoyed the pleasure of many a good meal! In the past, Ed loved being “a regular” at the Enfield Big Stop, and numerous of the past Zeller’s restaurants. Ed always enjoyed the great hamburgers at the A&W. A stroke stopped Ed from being as mobile and active, as he wanted to be, but he continued to receive much personal joy from the little things of life. His care giving needs brought him to Serenity Lodge, in 2010. He was grateful for each staff member and their contribution of love and support to his enjoyment of life! Ed had a love of old movies and enjoyed viewing his extensive collection daily! Ed loved sharing his movies with others. Ed took great pleasure from his love of music. In yesteryears, Ed was a regular in the local entertainment, be it jam ‘in at a house party or at a local dance or jamboree! Memories of his playing his guitar and his mouth organs especially with his Uncle Tux King, brought pride for his contribution to the enjoyment of others!
Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie.
A memorial mass will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Walsh at St. Bernard’s Church in Enfield on Tuesday July 19th at 11a.m.
