Obituary of Evelyn Rose Shand

Evelyn Rose Shand was born March 31, 1929 in Elderbank, NS, and passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK, on December 16, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Lila (Killen) Scott; husband, George; sons, Wayne, Owen, Lyle, and Blair; granddaughter, Tanya; sister, Shirley; and recently her long-time companion, Victor O’Grady. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Bruce of Nanaimo, BC, and Brian (Heather) of Prince Albert, SK; her granddaughter, Julie of Quispamsis, NB; her grandsons, George of Prince Albert SK, and Murray of Calgary, AB; four great grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth (Emily) of Yarmouth, NS; and numerous nieces and nephews who considered her to be a second “mom” as she was always there to help when needed. She retired from FW Woolworth’s Co. in Dartmouth, NS after more than 30 years’ service to take over the Scott’s Family Restaurant in Shubenacadie, NS, which she operated for approximately 9 years. Over the years she was a strong supporter of maintaining family connections, gathering, maintaining and sharing family information as much as she possibly could. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be 2pm Sunday, June 26 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26 Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
