Obituary of Laurie Arthur Brown

BROWN, Laurie A. – age 71, Newport, Hants County, passed away January 20, 2016 in the VG Site of the QEII Health Science Centre Halifax. Born in Hillsvale, he was a son of the late Frank and Alice (Purdy) Brown. Laurie was a hard working man, he was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years. He enjoyed the out doors, horses, farming, blue grass music and dances. Laurie loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by children, Charlie Brown (Brenda Clark), Truro; Charlene Woods (Rene Power), Stewiacke; Lawrence Brown (Michelle Roddick), Wittenburg; sisters, Marie Hogan, Elizabeth Brown, Joan (Ed) Hubley, Jane (Raymond) Wile, Joyce Peverill, Linda Gordon; brothers, Lewis Brown (Judy Miller), David Brown; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Lena (Fogarty), sisters, Dorothy “Honey” McLearn, and Ruth Pickrem, brothers, Jim Brown, Lloyd Brown and Harry Brown. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4 pm, Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Lewis Brown’s home, 454 Woodville Road, Newport (In case of inclement weather, the Celebration of Life will be held 2-4 pm, Sunday, January 31).
