Obituary of Robert George Leahy

LEAHY, Robert “Bob” George – age 75, of Stewiacke, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 18, 2015 in Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in Halifax to the late John and Mabel (Gibson) Leahy, Bob grew up in Tuft’s Cove. Bob worked at various jobs leading up to his position as an electronic radio technician at the Dockyards, where he worked for many years. He was an avid ham radio operator (VE1DF). Bob loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in gardening. Bob enjoyed his many chats with his good friend, Richard. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Doreen (Thoms); his children, George (Cheryl), Jeff (Debbie), Lisa; his granddaughters, Sarah, Krista, Allison, Jennifer; his siblings, Jackie (Opal), Barbara; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Blue. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roy “Buddy”. Family visitation only. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held 2pm Tuesday, December 22 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Pastor Rick Whiteside officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, East Stewiacke in the spring. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the MS Society or the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
