VERMEULEN (BRUGMANS), Anna Maria - It is with great love and heartache that the family of Anna Vermeulen announce her passing on October 16, 2015 in the Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro. Born in Breugel, Netherlands on August 12, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Gerardus and Joanna Maria (Van Zon) Brugmans. As a new bride, Anna came to Canada in 1955 and settled on a farm in Milford, Nova Scotia. She was a loving mother to her seven children and delighted in her twenty-one grandchildren. Her home and family were her pride and joy. She especially loved her friends, traveling and painting. Anna will be sadly missed by Ben, her husband of 60 years; sons, Andy (Karen), Gerald (Debbie), Adrian (Melanie); daughters Leona (Gerrit), Joanna, Verna (Micheal) and Wilma; 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Ties and Riny (Henriette), Netherlands and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Sunday, October 18 at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2pm Tuesday, October 20, in St. Bridget’s Parish, Shubenacadie, Father Tom Kurudeepan OMI officiating. A private family burial will take place after the reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Colchester East Hants Health Center Foundation.
