Obituary of Rose Anne Nevin

Please share a memory of Rose Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
NEVIN, Rose Anne “Rosie”-93, Indian Brook, passed away peacefully September 1, 2015 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, NS, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Indian Island Reserve, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Catherine (Johnson) Barlow. Our mother was a very resourceful person. She was never afraid of hard work to make extra money. She would pick mayflowers in the spring to sell, she would rake blueberries in the summer, pick potatoes in the fall, make Christmas wreaths in the winter and special orders of pies and crocheted creations to sell to community members. She did this to be sure that her 13 children and husband were fed and clothed. She never shied away from a day of hard work, and this is one of the many traits she bestowed in her children, and is a legacy for her grandchildren, their children and their children’s children. Rosie is survived by her children; Shirley Anne Taylor, Eleanor Michael, Stephen (Shirley) Nevin, all of Indian Brook; Wallace (Karlena) Nevin of St. Peters, William (Connie) Nevin of Elsipogtog, NB; Anthony (Elizabeth) Nevin, Jean (Bernie) Knockwood, David (Mary) Nevin, Rose Anne (Curtis) Michael, all of Indian Brook; Margaret Nevin of Brewer, Maine; Sheila (Gary) Nevin-Joseph, Jimmy Nevin; daughter in law, Rose Marie Nevin, all of Indian Brook; 72 grandchildren, 138 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Anne Brooks, Annie Barlow, and Evangeline Sanipass, all of Indian Island, NB; numerous Godchildren and several foster children. She was predeceased by husband, Simon; son, Frank; sons in law, Hugh Taylor and Stephen Michael; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; four brothers, and three sisters. Visitation will be held beginning at 3pm Thursday, September 3, at 76 Sesame St. Indian Brook until time of the funeral mass, 10 am Monday September 7 in Sipekne’katik Community Centre, Indian Brook, Father Tom Kurudeepan, OMI officiating. Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indian Brook. According to Rosie’s tradition, a salite will take place each night of the wake.
