Obituary of Murray Graham Mailman
Please share a memory of Murray to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mailman, Murray Graham- Enfield. The death occurred on Thursday, July 16th, 2015 of Murray Graham Mailman. We are devastated to lose a beloved son, brother, father, nephew, uncle and friend. We will so miss his wonderful logic, his insightful opinions on world affairs, his passion for the Habs and all things hockey, and his larger than life presence among family and friends, so witty and loving and generous.
Murray was born April 24th, 1963, a son of Marjorie A. (Matthews) Mailman and the late Ralph Mailman, Enfield. He is survived by siblings, Danny (Janet), Lower Sackville, Steve (Julie), Dartmouth, David (Angela), Chester Basin, and Evangeline, Enfield; several nephews and one niece. Predeceased by sisters, Catherine and Jeanne.
He is survived by his adored daughter, Meghan Catherine Mailman of Enfield and by her mother, Edna (Harvie) Mailman. Meghan enjoyed a special close bond with her father, who understood her so well and encouraged her at every level. Their favourite time of year was the gaspereau season at the wharf at Enfield, with friends and onlookers gathering in the spring.
In early years, Murray worked in construction, fishing, furniture moving, enjoyed a private pilot’s license, was a pool league champion, a poker player, and a great story-teller. His working career of these latter years was with Bell Aliant as a customer service technician in Halifax, then Corner Brook, then in New Glasgow as a Facilitation Manager. Murray was a proud Legion member at Montgomery Branch 133, Enfield for 33 years. Visitation will be held at Ettinger Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday July 19th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.A funeral mass will occur this morning (Monday July 20th) at 11am in St. Bernard’s Church, Enfield, Father Michael Walsh officiating. A reception at the Enfield Legion will follow the service. Interment at a later date. Donations in memory of Murray may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation.
