Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Donaldson

DONALDSON, Ruth Evelyn, age 73 of Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, passed away at home on May 27, 2015. Born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Sydney and Lillian (Morgan) Knight. Ruth was a graduate of the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She was a long-time volunteer with the Girl Guides, a member of Eastern Star, the Order of the Nile, the Women's Institute and the Royal Canadian Legion. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ralph, and by her children, Michael (Roberta); David (Kelly) and Cheryl (Chris) Dowell; grandchildren, Charlotte, Samuel, Rachel and Bennett; also survived by her sisters, Marjorie (Herb) I’Anson; Joan (Bill) Dey; Lois (John) Elliot and their families. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, from where a funeral service will be held 3pm Thursday, June 4, 2015, Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
