WILLIS, A. M. “Bert” – 92, Brookfield. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bert surrounded by her family and a tender caring team of health care professionals at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, in Truro, on April 9, 2015. Born in Bathurst NB, she was the daughter of the late Bedford and Pansy Peters. Bert worked at Shubenacadie Wild Life Park for 22 years and previously with the Canadian Cancer Society in Halifax. Her parents called her ‘Albertha’; she called herself ‘Bert’ and others called her Mum, wife, Ammie, friend, Mother, Bertie, Mrs. Willis, and Mrs. W. Bert believed herself to be privileged with the love and support of her only daughter Heather; her grandchildren Sara, Devin and Alana, and her great grandchildren Grace, Renton, Sienna and Corbin. Bert was a lady and a scholar; she opened her door to everyone with a comforting meal accompanied by her warm and welcoming hospitality. Bert moved to a few residences during her later years, always using her jerry-rigging talents, her favorite Dollar Store purchases and her creative skills to turn each residence into a home full of love and care. Her passing has left a gap in our lives and a gentle spot in our hearts. She will be forever remembered by the many lives she touched. She was predeceased by her husband Renton (Lofty), her parents and brothers, Ross and Baden. She is survived by her stepmother, Eileen Peters and her daughter, Shelley. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home. No visitation or funeral service by request. Interment at a later date for family. Donations in Bert’s memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society. Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Bert may be shared with the family at: ettingerfuneralhome.com.
