Obituary of Ella Rhind

RHIND (Dillman), Ella Victoria, Elderbank, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, with daughters at her side, at the Dartmouth General Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Wyse's Corner, NS, Ella was the eldest daughter of the late William and Ena (Barron) Dillman. Ella was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved her church and her community. She was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's UCW and enjoyed her work with the Hospital Auxiliary, Enterprisers Seniors Group and various other church and community organizations over the years. Together, Ella and Roy loved to dance, play cards and always enjoyed the company of family and friends in their home. She is survived by sons, Marvin (London, ON) and Leonard (Elderbank, NS); daughters Freda (Peter) Higgins (Ottawa, ON) and Mary Lou (John) Croft (Blockhouse, NS) and "special daughters," Cyndy Barclay-Hill and Cheryl Rhind. Grandsons Matthew Rhind; Brenden Higgins; David Rhind and Gregory Higgins. Great grandsons, Maddox Rhind and Jonathan Rhind. She is also survived by brothers, Wilfred (Joyce) Dillman, (Dartmouth, NS) and Donald (Barbara) Dillman, (Elderbank, NS); nephews Roderick (Nancy) Dillman, Malcolm (Renee) Dillman, Bradford (Ron) Dillman, Paul (Elizabeth) Dillman, and niece Janet (Stephen) Sollows . Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband Roy Douglas Rhind; sister, Roberta Dillman and brother-in-law, Ervin Dillman. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 29th at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Hwy 2 Shubenacadie, NS. Funeral service 2 p.m. on Friday, January 30th at St. Andrew's United Church, Elderbank, with Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
