SMITH (BRANCH), Dorothy age 79 of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy Smith on November 19, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, September 7, 1935, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Helen (Legace) Branch. Dorothy graduated from the Sherbrooke School of Nursing in 1957. There she met the love of her life, Paul, and travelled with him to various mining towns, finally settling in Timmins Ontario. She was predeceased by her soul mate in 2011, several years after the pair built their dream home in Nova Scotia.

Devoted wife, mother and grandmother ("nanny"), known for her kindness, generosity and selflessness as well as her chocolate chip cookies, freshly baked bread and knitted socks.

She is survived by her children Brenda Smith (Nick Kanya-Forstner), Schumacher, ON.; Wallace Smith (Mireille Gagnon), Bradford, ON.; Terri McAllister (Bud), Perth, Australia; Charlene Butler (Steve) Toronto, ON.; eight grandchildren Adrienne, Graham and Gregory Ceaser, Jeremy and Marise Smith, Kyle McAllister, Zachary and Eric Butler. Also survived by her very special nephew Doug MacPhee and his wife Linda, who have been an integral part of her life; brothers Gerald and Norman Branch and sister Joan Smith as well as many nieces and nephews

Cremation has taken place. A Time of Remembrance will be held 4-6pm Thursday, November 27th at the Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.

A private family committal service will be held at the Brookside cemetery.
