BRAGG, Marion H. 80, Enfield, - It Is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Hilda Bragg, on August 22, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of Vera and Bob Cameron, Marion always tried to live life to the fullest and achieved many goals in her life. In her latter years she achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, from St. Mary's University. During the 70's she was involved in flying at the Halifax Flying Club and obtained her private pilot's license in 1978 and was an avid pilot and attended many Fly Ins and events. Always known to be the hostess for family gatherings, Marion was renowned for her apple pies or any other dish that she put on and made sure all family and friends were taken of. She always said, "I hope they had a good time"! She was extremely proud of her only son, Marc, who obtained his master -Mariners at an early age and went on to sea for his living, operating his own company and being involved in many aspects of the marine industry throughout his more than 35 year career. Marion loved being at the house and enjoyed the company of her granddaughter , Melinda, and grandson Clay, along with great granddaughters, Megan, Karsyn and Abigail who were always looking for Great Grammy when they came. She had a fantastic group of friends and was a member of the famed, "Butterfly Girls", a group of ladies whom she worked with at Statistics Canada and remained in contact with them all going on road trips, weekend retreats at each other's homes or just drives for the day, enjoying real true friendship which meant the world to her until the end. Not enough can be said about these girls as in a lifetime you would be lucky to find one such friend but Marion found a whole group of true FRIENDS and appreciated their friendship to the end. She loved these ladies! Marion was known for always having an opinion and on certain issues loved to write and voice her opinion and express her views, often to the voice of the people in the local paper. She made sure she had facts straight and was never afraid to let you know 'that's all I have to say about that". She always had a sense of humor and was always there if anyone needed anything. "Just good old common courtesy "as she used to say. She is survived by her only son, Captain C. Marc Bragg (Sharon) Enfield, grandson Clay(Veronique) Ottawa; granddaughter Melinda(Joel) Lantz; great grandchildren Megan, Karsyn and Abigail; brother Kenny Cameron(Bobbie) Halifax; sister-in-law Anne Cameron; brother Frank"Bud" Cameron(Lorenda) Halifax; sister Shirley MacPherson(Kevin) Halifax. She had numerous nieces and nephews too many to mention but they know who they are all who meant the world to her. This was reflected especially in her last days as they all came to visit and thank her for her support and friendship as an aunt. She was predeceased by brothers, Raymond Ripley, Harold Ripley and Eugene Cameron. It was mentioned by many that Marion was a Matriarch of the Cameron Family and will be missed. Not enough can be said about Halifax and Colchester East Hants Continuing Care, caregivers and nurses and their Palliative care teams, who are very special people and provided immense support to the family during this difficult time. The nurses and doctors on the 7th floor VG made Marion feel special and this was very much appreciated. When Marion was reaching her last days it was mentioned "they don't make them like that anymore", no truer statement, she was one of a kind! She connected with everyone and always tried to help out where she could. She asked that her life and achievements be celebrated instead of being saddened by her passing. A memorial service will be held 11 am, Saturday August 30, 2014, at St. Margaret's of Scotland Anglican Church, Robie Street, Halifax, Rev. Canon Charles Bull officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Colchester East Hants Palliative Care or VON. Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Marion may be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
