Obituary of Emerson Keen

KEEN, Emerson Chester - 76, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after succumbing to Alzheimer's. Born in Marshalltown, he was the son of the late Chester and Marjorie (Marshall) Keen. Emerson moved to Stewiacke in the early 1960's where he began his surveying career and eventually started E.C. Keen Land Surveying Limited. He was a member of the Stewiacke Masonic Lodge, and former member of Stewiacke Recreation and the Stewiacke Fire Department as well as a former Town Councilor. He enjoyed being a scout leader for many years. He loved to go camping, walking and skiing. Survived by his wife Jackie (Pickles), children Ralph (Sylvia), Allains Creek; Jamie (Kim), Upper Clements; Michael, Stewiacke; Tom (Lucille), Morinville, Alberta; Jennifer (Danny) Fisher, Upper Musquodoboit; grandchildren Amanda (Christopher), Jessica, Kassy, Katie and Madelyn; great granddaughter Vela; his sister Jenny Keen (Robert Burke) Dartmouth. Visitation 7-9 pm, Thursday with funeral service 2 pm, Friday all in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Donations in memory of Emerson may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Arthritis Society.
