Obituary of Alan Murray Hurshman
HURSHMAN, Alan Murray – age 72, passed away peacefully with his niece, Sheryl by his side, on January 14th, 2025, at Sagewood Continuing Care, Lower Sackville. Born in Halifax on October 8th, 1952, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Grace (MacDonald) Hurshman.
Alan was an avid scholar and was always interested in learning new subjects in Psychology and Technology and sharing his knowledge with others – whether we wanted to know or not! He loved anything British – watching Monty Python at Christmas or listening to Rolling Stones or Kate Bush, to the new shows coming out on the BBC. Alan was an avid reader of historical fiction, The X-Files and liked “sharing” his political views. He had a huge sweet tooth and loved a cup of coffee or tea with a side of pie, cake, cookies or anything sweet!
Alan is survived by brothers, Russell (Lorraine), Donald, James (Judy); sister, Elizabeth (Gary) Deal; as well as nieces, nephews and friends from different parts of the world.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Charles Phillip Hurshman and Anna Grace (MacDonald) Hurshman; brother-in-law, Fred Rampton; and sister-in-law, Beverley Hurshman.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sagewood Retirement Home for the love, care and compassion they provided to Alan.
Donations in memory of Alan may be made to “Friends of Sagewood Recreation”, 345 Cobequid Road, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, B4C 4E6.
