Obituary of Shirley Barbara Dixon

DIXON, Shirley – age 85 of Nine Mile River.

We the children of Shirley Dixon, are sad to share her passing on December 20, 2024 in Truro. Mum was born in Nine Mile River to the late Emma and Melbourne MacPhee.

Mum was a homemaker until she went to work at Sears and worked there until the store closed in 1992. Mum was a community minded person who was a member of the Nine Mile River Hall’s Ladies Auxiliary, working many dances, jamborees and bingo. Mum loved music and a good dance partner. But Mum’s greatest love was preparing and feeding her family many delicious meals over the years. Her greatest joy was having all of her family around.

Mum is survived by her children, Barb (Bruce), Randy, Paul (Janette), Joy (Tim), Bridget (Wayne) and Peter (Yesica); 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Mabel, Freda, Reta, Doris and Lilah.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earl; partner, Don Cale; granddaughter, Sarah; brothers, James, Kenneth, Harry; sister, Laura; and 2 children in infancy.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes. A Celebration of life and private family burial will take place at a later date.
