Obituary of June Isenor
ISENOR (Newman), Luella "June", age 98, of Carrolls Corner: it is with heavy hearts we announce Mum's passing, she passed away peacefully at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro on December 9, 2024.
Gram always had a smile on her face and was such a positive influence to everyone in her life. When she wasn’t in the kitchen her favourite pastimes were knitting and dancing. Her door was always open for so many to experience the warmth and love of her home and she never let her grandchildren or great grandchildren leave without a hug. Gram especially loved to cuddle and rock her newborn grand babies and great grand babies and sing to them. She cherished her summer weekends spent at the cottage in Cooks Lake. She was a member of the Gays River United Church and UCW always volunteering to serve at church suppers and other activities for as long as she was able. Mum loved to bake for everyone, well into her 90's. She was known especially for her brown bread, and molasses cookies – and her recipes have been passed down for future generations to enjoy. Mum truly enjoyed knitting almost anything and passing time with all of her friends and family. Since the passing of Stelman, she would always say how much she missed him. Now Gram can now be happy again as without doubt she and "Pup" are back together.
She is survived by her brother Glen of Milford, and her children, Dianna, Vaughn (Anne), Rick (Chris), all of Carrolls Corner. "Gram" is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Kim (Riaan), Deanna (Garth), both of North Vancouver, BC, Leah (Rob) of Truro, Jody (Sonia) of Oakfield, Darren (Kellyn) of Boutiliers Point; Kari (Trevor) of Gays River and Steven, of Dartmouth; as well as her 8 great grandchildren, Tahlia, Ethan, Tyler, Lucy, Owen, Rhys, Brayden and Emmett; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mum was predeceased by her husband of nearly 65 years, Stelman as well as her parents James and Winnifred Newman, her sisters Ruth, Helen, Laura, Ferne, Joyce and brothers Bob and Fred, and her half-brother, Harry.
Special thanks to the Northwood Home Care workers as well as Jill and Jamie for their help and caring these last few months.
The family would like to thank Dr. Iain MacNeil and the receptionists at Elmsdale Medical Centre for their compassionate care of Mum over the years. We also appreciate the kind efforts of the staff of 3D at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre during her time with them.
Donations can be made to the Gays River United Church, the Gays River Cemetery Society or a charity of your choice in Mum's memory. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger's Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A graveside service for friends and family will held in Gays River Cemetery at a later date.
