Lion Betty arrived into the Shubenacadie Lions Club as a stranger. Introducd to the Club by ( now passed) , Lion Dennis MacDonald my long time long close friend.
She immediatly was every members new friend. Her service she freely provided to the Club and her adopted Community was an example to all volunters. Her unselfish energy, her positive attittude and enthusiasm was only surpassed by her ability to make friends and her loyalty to them . A loving Lady taken from us, way too soon. She will be so dearly missed. Gods Gift. Dear Friend and Lion Willie Courtney..

My deepest condolences to Betty's family and friends. I met Betty through a dear friend Lion Dennis MacDonald at a gathering at Lion Bernard Smiths. I am sure going to miss the phone conversations with Betty and Willie and all the laughs we had. Also the laughs about me calling her "Betty Boops" LOL I also have to mention the way Betty would try to call my lucky # when displaying the Bingo numbers for the Truro Lions Club.
I still wait for them to call that number. lol Also I will always remember her lovely hand crafted painted fingernails. I know in my heart that Betty and Dennis are now together again.
Thinking of you both as always Faye Courtney

I had the pleasure of knowing Betty (Miss B.) personally and professionally and counted her as a dear friend, mentor and support. She embodied what it means to be generous, caring and loving to everyone she met. She brought laughter and joy to the workplace, in her many volunteer pursuits and to her family and many friends. Betty connected with people on a personal level easily, she remembered their birthdays, anniversaries and always made the effort to reach out and connect. She impacted the lives of the thousands of people she met in her career and personal life and those impacts were positive and lasting. She was goodness.
I worked side by side with Miss B for close to four years and she was always there to support me whether the days were stressful, busy or challenging. She would randomly show up with hamburgers for lunch, treats and birthday cakes at safety meetings. She embodied a culture of celebration and warmth.
In recent years, I had the pleasure of having lunches with Betty where we would share stories of our families and friends, talk about her work with the Lions and share a laugh. I always looked forward to those long lunches with her.
Now it is time for Miss B to share her enduring love and laughter with those that have gone before and we get to cherish those memories. Rest in Peace

Saddened to hear of Bettys passing. So many memories about her and family. Growing up and visiting her parents house was always a highlight in my life. Betty always kept us all laughing and she graciously allowed me to wear her crown for my wedding. Praying for your peace during this difficult time. Debbie(Murphy)Fevens.

I worked for her boss for a time and I’d see her fairly frequently. Then I’d only see her a few times per week and interact with her about once per week for the past 15 years or so. What a fantastic lady. It’s not the same not seeing her at HMC Dockyard. I miss her already… RIP, Lady. I’d like to consider myself a friend.

I have known Betty for about 40 years. When she sold Trichem paints she had everyone laughing. At our monthly meetings it was the same. It didn't matter if you agreed with her or not she still had you laughing. Her Mom was in the same room with my Mom at Tidal View. It was a blessing as Mom was losing her hearing so Ruth would holler at her to answer the phone. She will be missed by many people whether you had see her a few days ago or hadn't see her for many years.

My deepest condolences to betty's family and friends. I was very shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. We were neighbors for awhile. She would come to my work and say "howdy neighbor" She had the best real nails around and I enjoyed seeing the color and design, I will miss that among many other things. She had the biggest laugh I know and was always happy, especially when talking about her family. She will be missed dearly and always remembered. Rest easy my friend until we meet again.

Our deepest condolences and best wishes to Betty's family. I was lucky that every day for over 5 years at Base Logistics Warehouse at CFB Halifax to have Betty work with me. She had no equal. Among the long list of daily activities Betty was primarily the BLog morale officer. She kept the whole BLog team on top of the important stuff = who's birthday it was, every lotto result, every Regal catalogue update and while it lasted she managed the famous "Pepperoni run" for the entire base. For that time I bet there was not a single person civilian or in uniform within BLog at any of the various buildings in Halifax, Willow Park and Shearwater who knew, respected and relied on Betty to make BLog a great place to work for all of us. Thanks Betty.

Thanks Betty you were definitely one of a kind. Such a big heart welcoming me into your family. We didn't get over to see you enough but when we did the love and laughs you had for us was truly amazing
Will never forget our last little drive to Sydney, you snoring on the front seat louder than the radio, you took us to see my very first bear and a moose (that never showed up) the laughter and fun we had at the truck stops on the way, will live in my mind for ever
You had a heart of gold and I will miss you enormously
Hope to see you on the other side as I still want to hear your laughter again and again love always Douglas

Betty was truly the love of my uncle's life and I wish we had met her sooner. It was hard to find a photo that was not taken over by her laughing. I will miss her antics and our weekly check up call. Betty, please give my Mom and Dennis the biggest hugs as only you could.
