Obituary of Keith Roy Blaikie
BLAIKIE, Keith Roy – age 82, of Upper Stewiacke, NS, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre VG Site, Halifax, surrounded by his family. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Edwin and Olive (Ross) Blaikie. He was predeceased by two brothers in infancy.
With the exception of a decade with National Cash Register’s (NCR) repair team working in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, Keith worked his whole life in the family’s lumber operations in the Stewiacke Valley. He and his father, the sixth and seventh generations to own and operate lumber mills, formed Edwin Blaikie Lumber Limited in 1973. Until this spring he was still producing core trays for the mining and drilling industries.
Surviving are Thelma; daughters, Krista (John) and Kiley (Kevin); as well as granddaughters, Sarah, Grace, and Kenley.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 in Riverside Cemetery on Southside Road in Upper Stewiacke.
Donations in memory of Keith may be made to the Stewiacke Valley Museum or Upper Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Department.
