Obituary of Leigh Munroe Fraser

Please share a memory of Leigh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Leigh Munroe Fraser passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was born January 13, 1936, in Belnan, NS, the second of four children to the late Richmond and Helen (Isenor) Fraser. Leigh lived his entire life on Highway 214 and was a truck driver for 47 years, proudly spending much of that time at Elmsdale Landscaping. In his retirement, Leigh could be found on his son’s farm, out for a drive, enjoying a cup of Tim’s coffee or mowing his lawn. If you knew Leigh, you knew he was passionate about the weather, his truck and lawn care. He was a hard working man, dedicated to his family. He was a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Leigh showed how much he cared with his actions. He never forgot a birthday or anniversary or missed a special occasion. He was as skilled at dancing as he was at operating equipment. He was honest and always quick to lend a hand. There are not enough words to describe the man Leigh Fraser.

For the last 10 years of his life, Leigh required dialysis treatments three times a week, which he received in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. The staff of the dialysis unit became a second family to Leigh. Thank you so much for the love, support and care you showed to our Dad during these years. Thank you for the Christmas cards, hockey games and helping us keep him so well in his later years. We will not forget you, and we know you will hold him in your hearts as well. We also want to thank Dr. Iain MacNeil for his kindness and care over the years.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Frank) and Cathy; sons, Peter and Donnie (Kathy), granddaughters, Danielle, Helen (Jordan) and Zoshia (Chris); great grandchildren, Alyssa and Zachary; sister, Sylvia; brother, Allan (Gail); sister-in-law, Gail; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Leigh was predeceased by his brother, Wayne: companion, Flora Ashley-Peck; son-in-law, Dave Freeman; and brother-in-law, Tony Prokopowich.
