Obituary of Ruth Witt
“Ruth” (Martha Eva Ruth) Witt passed away on May 9th, 2024 at the age of 88. Ruth was the daughter of Gordon and Doris (Hook) Peddie.
Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Lantz, Nova Scotia, surrounded by family.
Ruth was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others and had a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. Known for her kindness, humour, love of animals and nature and forever having a song in her heart, Ruth will be dearly missed by many wonderful friends and family from every part of Canada.
Ruth is survived by sons; Paul and Mark (Marilyn); daughters, Dawn (Derek D'Arcy), Tanis and Colleen; grandchildren; Luke (Chelsie), Alyshia (Steve), Taisto, Jenni (Robb), Trevor (Michelle), Bradley, Sara (Ben), Tyler, Cole (Jennifer), Kelson (Ashley) and Liam; Her sister, Mavis and her brother Donald Peddie, sister-in-law Lynn (Dave Kinniburgh), Brother-in-law Terry Witt (April). Seven Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband Ron Witt, sister, Mary Yorke, daughter-in-law, Shareen Witt ; brother-in-law Ron Yorke; sister-in-law, Lynne Peddie; stepmother Ethel Mae Peddie; nephews, Timothy Yorke and Elliott Peters.
Ruth’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hardwoodlands Presbyterian Church, on May 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm, Rev. Beth Mattinson officiating.
