Obituary of Maxine Mae Crouse

Please share a memory of Maxine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

CROUSE, Maxine Mae -age 81,  formerly Stewiacke, passed away with her girls close to her side on April 20, 2024 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. She was a daughter of the late Edward and Audrey (Dodge) Wells.

She enjoyed singing in the choir of the Sharon United Church teaching Sunday school CGIT and being a member of the Friendship Circle. Her gift of cooking, baking, pickling and sharing a meal with family friends and neighbors always put an extra twinkle in her eyes and spring in her step.  Her gentle touch, words and patience not only showed to her children but reflected in the details of her crafts and flower gardens. The biggest joy was when she became a grandmother as she said she finally had time to enjoy them. To see them grow hear of their accomplishments, listen to their heart breaks and disappointments to encourage them, the phone calls and letters filled her heart with so much purpose. As her dementia progressed mail and the phone became her lifeline but those calls and letters from friends and family truly brightened her day.

Maxine is survived by son, Wayne ,PEI; daughter, Karen (John), MacKay Siding; grandchildren, Christina, Mitchell (Hannah), Madison; sister, Joyce (Garnet); special nieces, Patti (Mike), Nancy and  Joanne (Blair).

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Enos; and her brother, John.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. As per Maxine’s request there will be no visitation or service. A private committal service will be held for family and close friends, at 11am on Friday, July 5th, 2024, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke.

Donations in memory of Maxine may be made to Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Recreation Department.

Special thanks to the staff of Cedarstone Enhanced Care for embracing mom with friendship, love and support. This enabled her to continue to shine and bloom with her humor, crafts and gentle ways with all.  The family is forever grateful to all of you for your kindness and dedication.
