DeMan, William Dirk "Bill" 71, Belnan, passed away Saturday March 8, 2014 in the Halifax Infirmary Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Holland, he was a son of the late Cornelia Huisman and Jan Arie DeMan.

A loving husband to Ethel for over 50 years. Bill was an avid gardener. He enjoyed a long career as a sheet metal worker and was a member of Local 409 for 35 years. He enjoyed keeping active and could often be found in the garden, working around the yard or taking long drives with his family. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all he helped and visited

He will be sadly missed by his wife Ethel DeMan (Dauphinee); sons Michael (Teri) DeMan, Nine Mile River; Murray DeMan (Debbie Sloan), Johnson's Point, NB; daughter in-law, Rhonda DeMan, Dartmouth; grandchildren Kevin and Rachel DeMan, Nine Mile River; Cole and Jerrett DeMan, Dartmouth; siblings Gordon (Edna) DeMan, Elmsdale, Pat (Vic) Young, Parksville, BC; John (Nancy) DeMan, Etobicoke, ON, Clarke (Cindy) DeMan, Calgary, AB, Jacob (Mona) DeMan, Belmont; Margaret (Derek) Baldwin, Errington, BC; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son Calvin DeMan and a brother Len DeMan.

Visitation will be 3-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday March 11 at the Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where the funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday March 12, Rev. Beth Brehaut officiating. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the QEII Cancer Centre.
