Obituary of Alan Perry Spencer

SPENCER, Alan Perry, 97, Milford Station/Enfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 28th, at the Cobequid Community Health Centre, with his daughter by his side.  

He was born on September 10th, 1926 to the late Arthur and Gladys (Jamieson) Spencer.  Dad enjoyed being a farmer and spent most of his working career with Steed and Evans. He enjoyed wood working, traveling around Nova Scotia, and listening to music.  

Alan is survived by his daughter, Shirley Anne (Keith) Myers; grandchildren, Adena (Mark) Wilson and Matthew (Shannon) Myers and great-grandchildren, Regan and Camden Wilson, and Halle and Lucy Myers; sister, Shirley Restrick; sister-in-law, Julia White; and several nieces and nephews.  Alan was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Lillian (Nowe) and his brother, Eldon “Eddy” and Shirley Spencer, sister-in-law, Peggy and Richard Watson and brother-in-law, Calvin "Sonny" Nowe Jr.  A heartfelt thank you from the family, to the staff of the Magnolia Continuing Care nursing home and to the nurses and doctors at the Cobequid Community Health Centre, for their care and compassion. 

Funeral service 2pm Friday, December 1, at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating.  A private interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East.

Family flowers only.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Alan, may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
