Obituary of Orie James MacLeod

MacLEOD, Orie- age 90 of Truro, formerly of Nine Mile River, passed away November 13, 2023 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Nine Mile River, he was a son of the late Jamie and Emma (McHardie) MacLeod.

Orie loved attending the dances at the Nine Mile River Community Hall; he never missed a dance.  He was employed with Maritime Tel and Tel for 40 years.

He is survived by brothers, Alton, Aubrey (Barb) and Earl, several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by sister, Pansy; partner, Irene Spicer; brother-in-law, Cliff McGregor; sister-in-law, Mary MacLeod.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Saturday, November 18th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, November 19th, Rev. Kim Curlett officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Nine Mile River.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Orie’s memory can be made to Sand Hill Cemetery.
