Obituary of Mary Redding

REDDING (DOUCETTE), Mary "Janet", age 74, Gays River, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 22, 2014 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Afton (Paqtnkek), Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Caroline Johnson. Janet was a loving wife and mother with a kind gentle heart to all who crossed her path. She loved to travel, play bingo, create a variety of handmade crafts and look for yard sale treasures. Her most favorite collections included teddy bears and elephants. She is survived by her husband John A.Redding, daughters Margaret Flinn (Bill), Linda Redding (Michael Wilmot), Darlene Shaw (Michael), Bev Walker; sons Dennis (Potula Vlemmas), Ross (Kimberley DeWolfe), Michael (Charlene); grandchildren Adam, David, Angelina, Shannon, Carole, Anthony, Stephanie, Marina, Matthew, Carson, Luke; eleven great grandchildren; sister Genevieve Johnson, brother Richard A. Johnson (Mary-Jane); several uncles, nieces and nephews, godchildren Chester Johnson and Laura Thomson. She was predeceased by her sister Emily, a brother in infancy; maternal grandmother Madeline Julian, several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held from 12noon until 9 pm, today, Tuesday and 10am - 9 pm Wednesday at St. Kateri's Roman Catholic Church Hall, Indian Brook. The funeral mass will be held 11 am Thursday February 27, in St. Kateri's RC Church, Indian Brook, Father Tom Kurudeepan O.M.I. officiating. Interment in the community cemetery. Meal and salité to follow in the Community Hall. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at the hospital and to all those who showed their support to the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
